Ohh I've never heard of "project pan" but I have been unintentionally following this method for a few years. I do find that my excess often comes from attending events, where I love being exposed to /trying new things... but that's how the products pile up, so if I know I won't use something I try and share with friends who will.
Also, l save the empty beauty product jars and drop them off at Credo (& I think Sephora has this option too) so they're recycled properly!
This is great, I'm in! You asked about favorite products in the email, and here was me just sitting here thinking about how much I love my deodorant (no, really!). I tried "No Pong" because I was trying to get away from plastic packaging. It comes in little tins, and mailed in recyclable carboard mailers. I stayed with it because it works better than anything else! And because they are SO NICE. Their customer service is aces. Responsive, personal, kind. It's an Australian company. Highly recommend.
Yes - Project Pan also protects your health! While unopened makeup and skincare can last three to five years, everything changes once you break the product's seal. Exposure to air, heat, moisture, and daily use starts breaking down their protective preservatives that keep bacteria at bay. You wouldn't wipe a moldy cloth on your face Yuck! So why risk using contaminated products on your skin? Also, would you use an ineffective sun screen simply because you have half a tube left from last summer? Period After Opening (PAO )dates are given in the tiny symbol of a little open jar with “12M” inside. 12M means the product is ok for 12 months after breaking the seal. 6M, 6 months, etc.

Love the idea of passing them to friends - it turns clutter into a little love note. And thank you for the recycling tip! Credo is great
That was dirty of her to call you out on the yarn too;) I'm all about project pan.
Haha I know, my yarn stash is basically its own project pan at this point
